Schools' can collection to benefit zoo sparks competition (video)

A competition among elementary schools in the Marshfield School District is motivating students to collect cans and bring their collection bags to school every other week.

While the can collection benefits the city's Wildwood Zoo, it also will award the school that collects the most the naming rights to two young bison born at the zoo last summer.

"These kids are amazing. Because of their diligence and effort to make sure they remember their cans on collection day, so far, they've raised over $1,500 during the current school year," said Tom Buttke, a Marshfield Zoological Society member who ...
