The Community Clinic of Door County (CCDC) has announced that it would provide medical services for patients who are seeking care after the recent closing of the Wellness Center in Sturgeon Bay.
"We are responding to an unexpected need in the community," said Grace Rossman, president of CCDC. "The Wellness Center provided a unique and important service. We are committed to helping patients who need these services right now."
CCDC has provided primary health care, mental health care, and complementary care in Sturgeon Bay and Sister Bay since 2003.
The Wellness center closed its doors suddenly on March 12.
CCDC is collaborating with health community partners in what Rossman called a "thoughtful process that will provide for the development of a quality, full service family planning and reproductive health program at the clinic."
Those currently in need of family planning or reproductive health services may call (920) 746-8989 for an appointment. Urgent needs are being met first.
"The Community Clinic is committed to serving these patients. But it will mean extra expense we had not anticipated," Rossman said. "We are asking the community to help." Donations can be mailed to PO Box 3, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 or dropped off at the clinic at 1623 Rhode Island St., also in Sturgeon Bay.
CCDC is a community-supported, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) health-care organization for the uninsured and underserved.
