Fox Lake fire chief rescues dog

Fox Lake Fire Chief Bill Frank braved freezing water to rescue a dog that had fallen through the ice of Fox Lake.

Frank received a call around 12:30 p.m. Friday from Dodge County Dispatch center that a dog owned by Jim and Cindy Geddes of Fox Lake had broken through three-quarters of an inch of ice and was struggling to stay afloat in the middle of the Fox Lake channel.

Frank said the Geddes family lives adjacent to the waterway and their dog, Ella, often ventured out onto the frozen channel. The warming temperatures over the past two days made for treacherous conditions on the channel Friday ...
