Marathon County joins child predator task force

Authorities have added a new weapon to their arsenal in the fight against crimes that target children.

The Marathon County Sheriff's Department in February joined Internet Crimes Against Children, a statewide task force that adds money and resources to local law enforcement agencies.

By joining ICAC, Marathon County automatically will qualify for a $1,500 annual grant that can be used for training or equipment, Sheriff's Lt. Greg Bean said Tuesday. But the real focus of ICAC is increased cooperation among agencies - cooperation that gets real results, Bean said. ...
