? Unemployment rates increased in every Wisconsin county between December and January, according to new data released by the Department of Workforce Development. The state unemployment rate was 8 percent. Wausau's unemployment rate was 9.8 percent, up from 8.9 percent. Marathon County's unemployment rate was 8.1 percent, up from 6.6 percent. Lincoln County's rate was 11 percent, up from 8.9 percent.
? Wausau Paper Corp. plans to sell its specialty paper business, along with paper mills in Mosinee and Rhinelander, for $130 million to a company with a history of buying up and then turning around failing companies. Wausau Paper has about 400 employees in Mosinee.
? Five central Wisconsin employees contracted by the Federal Aviation Administration will lose their jobs as air traffic controllers April 7 because of federal spending cuts. Eight towers at smaller airports in Wisconsin will be closed as a result of the cuts.
? Humana Inc. will hire 75 full-time customer care workers for its Green Bay-area operations in De Pere. The workers will provide customer service support for Humana's commercial and HumanaOne operations. They will handle inquiries and provide guidance on billing and enrollment to customers across the country.
