New London's Brenna Heise named American Family Insurance All-USA Fox Valley girls' basketball player of the year (video)

FIRST TEAM

Brenna Heise, 5-11, Sr., F, New London: Post-Crescent athlete of the year in girls' basketball. ? Averaged 16.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, three steals, two assists and 1.5 blocks in leading New London to a 26-1 record. ... Was the player of the year in the Bay Conference. ? Was a first-team Division 2 Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) selection. ? Was a fourth-team Associated Press all-state selection. ? Helped lead the Bulldogs to third consecutive state appearance. ? Also played a major role in New London's 68-game win streak that spanned three seasons and included two state championships. ? Superb defender who will play collegiately at Michigan Tech.

Frankie Wurtz, 5-8, So., G, Kimberly: Was the Fox Valley Associated player of the year and also a unanimous first-team all-FVA selection. ? Averaged 15.3 points per game and helped lead the Papermakers to the FVA crown, sectional final berth in Division 1 and a 23-3 overall record. ? Talented scorer was effective off the dribble and from the perimeter. ?Was a first-team selection to the WBCA Division 1 all-state team. ? Was also an honorable mention selection on the AP all-state team.

Mackenzie Greisch, 5-8, Jr., G, Appleton North: Was a unanimous first-team Fox Valley Association selection. ? Top athlete that powered the Lightning to another solid season, including an upset of FVA champion Kimberly during the regular season. ? Averaged 11.8 points per game and shot 53 percent from the field. ? Arguably the area's top defender, averaging nearly four steals per game while also pulling down 3.5 rebounds. ? Was an honorable mention selection on the AP all-state team and also an honorable mention selection to the WBCA Division 1 all-state team.

Peyton Ufi, 5-9, So., G, Xavier: Was a unanimous first-team all-Eastern Valley Conference selection and was also the conference's player of the year. ? Averaged 10.1 points per game in leading the Hawks to a 24-2 overall record and a share of the Eastern Valley crown. ? Was an honorable mention selection to the AP all-state team.

Jenni Hellwig, 6-1, Sr., F, Weyauwega-Fremont: Was a unanimous first-team all-Central Wisconsin 8 selection. ? Helped lead the Indians to a 19-4 overall record and share of the CWC-8 conference title. ? Averaged 12.1 points per game and 6.9 rebounds.

SECOND TEAM

Morgan Wilson, Jr., 5-11, F, Weyauwega-Fremont: Was a first-team all-Central Wisconsin-8 selection. ? Led the Indians in scoring (12.8) and in rebounding (7.4). ? Teamed with Hellwig to give the Indians a formidable 1-2 punch in the front-court.

Wrenn Tanck, Sr., 5-11, F, Wrightstown: Was a first-team all-Olympian selection. ? Averaged 13 points and 5.5 rebounds in leading the Tigers to a 20-5 record and sectional semifinal berth.

Mickey Roland, Jr., 5-7, G/F, New London: Was a second-team all-Bay Conference selection and one of the main driving forces in the Bulldogs' 26-1 record and Division 2 state semifinal berth. ? Averaged 10.1 points and 6.2 rebounds.

Abby Huntington, Sr., 5-9, G/F, Fox Valley Lutheran: Was a first-team all-Eastern Valley Conference selection. ? Helped power the Foxes to a 21-4 record and a share of the Eastern Valley conference title. ? Averaged 8.5 points and 4 rebounds per game.

Michaela Machurick, Sr., 5-8, G, Xavier: Was a first-team all-Eastern Valley Conference selection. ? Averaged 7.6 points and 1.8 assists for the Hawks. ? A critical player in helping lead the Hawks to a 24-2 record and Division 3 sectional semifinal berth.
