Reader question: I went to one of my favorite coffee spots, GotJava, and there was a sign that said “closed until further notice.” I am wondering if the closing is temporary and they will re-open soon. Do you have any information on this business?

Answer: GotJava Cafe at 303 N. Commercial St. in Neenah has had the “closed until further notice” sign on its door since early February because owner Mike Holborn thought he had a buyer lined up. He intended the closure to be temporary.

That buyer, however, backed away.

On his GotJava Facebook page, Holborn wrote a “business for sale” post Feb. 8 offering the turn-key operation for $15,000.

Now another buyer is interested in taking over the coffee shop and is in the process of securing financing for additional equipment.

Holborn said he was selling the business because it didn’t generate enough traffic and it faced a lot of competition in the area.

“I gave it 16 months,” he said. “There wasn’t enough cash flow.”

He said the interested buyer would run the shop as GotJava Cafe, but would expand the food portion to draw in more traffic.
