Wausau looks to mandate city-issued email accounts for council

City of Wausau officials moved forward Monday with a plan to require City Council members to conduct business on city-issued email accounts.

The new rule would help ensure that emails the city's 11 council members receive or send related to public business would be kept in a permanent file, a requirement under the state's open meeting laws. The Coordinating Committee, which is made up of several council members, recommended the city adopt the rule Monday night during a scheduled meeting.
