City Council approves rules to increase transparency

The Wausau City Council approved two measures Tuesday meant to help the public better understand issues discussed at city meetings.

City officials now will be required to post a listing of planned public meetings on the city's website on the first of every month and distribute informational packets to public officials six days prior to city meetings.

City Council members said Tuesday during a Committee of the Whole meeting that they hope those new rules will increase transparency and give the public a better idea of what decisions could be made at public meetings. ...
