UWMC series to feature notable poets

The University of Wisconsin Marathon County's Lecture and Fine Arts Series will host a free public poetry reading event at 7 p.m. April 4 in the Black Box Theater in the UW Center for Civic Engagement, 625 Stewart Ave, Wausau.

The event will feature Carrie Shipers, professor of English at UW-Marshfield/Wood County, and Mike Kriesel, Aniwa, current president of the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets.

Shipers is the author of Ordinary Mourning, a full-length collection that won the 2009 ABZ First Book Poetry Prize. The poems in Ordinary Mourning explore the meaning of grief, the possibilities of ...
