A Tuesday fire has closed a fuel pellet manufacturer for several days.
The fire broke out around 12:30 a.m. at Pellet America, 2601 W. Second St., burning for just under two hours, said the Appleton Fire Department.
In operation at the time of the fire, the business' alarm alerted the fire department along with a 911 call from employees. No one was injured in the fire, said Lee Kasten, fire department spokesman.
A spark ignited during the manufacturing process likely started the fire, which was difficult to extinguish because of the difficulty in accessing the machines and the highly combustible materials made at the business.
Managers from Pellet America told the fire department it will take several days for the company to resume operations.
