Neenah considers charter middle school

Grant would be needed to start classes in 2014

As soon as the 2014-15 school year, the Neenah Joint School District could open a charter middle school.

A group of parents that started researching the idea for a middle school charter in 2012 recently presented their application for a planning grant to the school board. A resolution allowing the group to submit the grant will go before the board April 9.

Kathleen Hallett, who helped establish Alliance Charter Elementary School in Neenah 10 years ago, said the school's name is River Oak Middle School, referencing the Fox River and the stability and history of the oak tree. ...
