A past full of baking and the memories of kitchen time with her mother led 27-year-old Pam Schmitz down the path to her dream job.

On Feb. 1, Schmitz opened the doors to The Creamery, her one-of-a-kind bakery and coffee shop located in the Olde School Square retail complex in Ledgeview.

"I've always been interested in baking, and I started a baking blog where I shared recipes and pictures of what I was making and the stories behind it," Schmitz said. "I always hoped that one day I would get into that." ...
