Thursday's ticket: Holly Williams

It sure is tough talking about Holly Williams without mentioning her family. After, all the Williams clan - grandfather Hank Williams and father Hank Williams Jr. - more or less pioneered the genre. But despite her impressive country roots, it's pretty clear Holly is individualizing herself by not going too traditional or too mainstream. Her songs are more introspective as such - more Joni Mitchell than Carrie Underwood - and that attracted the likes of Jackson Browne and Jakob Dylan, The Wallflowers' lead man and Bob Dylan's son (Dylan and Williams share equally monumental forebears) to guest on her latest album, "The Highway," released in February. American Songwriter calls it "her most accomplished, mature and world weary album" and that "even Hank Sr. would be proud." Williams was also named one of CMT's Next Women of Country and will tour with the likes of Sheryl Crow, Loretta Lynn, the Indigo Girls, Jewel and John Prine this year. Tonight's concert at the Meyer Theatre is one of the last dates on her nationwide spring tour.
