After meeting in closed session on Nov. 28, 2011, the Sheboygan Falls School Board voted unanimously, and without comment, to award the construction manager contract for a not-yet-approved building project to a Milwaukee company, even though the proposal was more than a quarter million dollars more than one submitted by a Sheboygan County firm.

School board members' specific reasoning for their decision remains unknown because they've declined to say why they voted for the higher bid, even after receiving repeated requests to do so from residents and Sheboygan Press Media.
