New Holstein teen died of hypothermia, had 'elevated' alcohol levels

The Calumet County Sheriff's Department has reported that 18-year-old Monica Batts had an "elevated blood alcohol level" when she died of hypothermia in the early morning hours of Feb. 11 in New Holstein.

According to a press release from Calumet County Sheriff's Lt. Mark Wiegert, Batts left a residence in New Holstein at about 4 a.m. on Feb. 11, left the roadway on foot, crossed a snow-covered field and went over a snow fence into the back yard of a home at W724 County Highway X in New Holstein.
