U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson believes federal lawmakers share a common goal but lack the fortitude to work cooperatively to make headway on crucial issues.

"We're a pretty polarized country right now," Johnson said. "I think Republicans and Democrats both want a prosperous America and want everyone to be able to build a good life for themselves. But there's two divergent views on how to achieve those goals - growing government or growing the economy."
