KAUKAUNA - Wisconsin Public Service Corp. on Thursday completed its purchase of the Fox Energy Center from subsidiaries of GE and Tyr Energy Inc.

WPS paid $390 million for the 593-megawatt power plant and $50 million for early termination of a contract to buy electricity from the center.

Fox Energy Center is equipped to use fuel oil, but runs primarily on natural gas and is expected to do so as long as gas prices remain low.
