Snow-covered fields wreak havoc on spring schedules

1:11 PM, Mar. 28, 2013  |  Comments

This week was supposed to be the county's first taste of spring; with the area's baseball, girls soccer, and softball teams all set to start their seasons. However, a blanket of snow on the ground makes it impossible to safely play the games, shifting the entire schedule.

For Algoma and Kewaunee nearly two weeks of games have been canceled or postponed.

Algoma's first outdoor spring sports events are now scheduled for April 8. The Wolves' baseball and softball teams will host Green Bay Northeastern Wisconsin Lutheran in 4:30 p.m. games.

April 8 is also the scheduled date for Kewaunee's first outdoor spring sports game. The Storm's softball team host Oconto at 4:30 p.m.

April 4 is the date of Luxemburg-Casco's first outdoor spring events. The Spartans track team is scheduled to host a nonconference triangular involving Gillett and Suring at 4 p.m. The Spartans girls soccer team also has a season-opening home game scheduled against Wrightstown at 4:30 p.m.
