Incumbent, attorney vie for Lincoln County judge job (with video)

A Merrill native who has practiced law in the area for 20 years is challenging the incumbent in the race for Lincoln County Circuit Court judge.

Incumbent John Yackel, who has served in the position for about six months, will face challenger Robert Russell, who owns Russell Law Office in Merrill, in Tuesday's general election. Gov. Scott Walker appointed Yackel to the position, which pays $128,600 a year, in August to replace retired Judge Glenn Hartley.

Yackel said he is the best candidate in the race because he is the only one who has served as a judge. ...
