WPS seeks utility rate hikes

Rates would rise 7.4% for electric, 5.6% for gas

Wisconsin Public Service Corp. on Friday asked for a 7.4-percent hike in electric rates for 2014 and 5.6-percent increase in natural gas distribution rates.

The company said, if applied equally, typical residential customers will see an electric rate increase of $5.78 per month and natural gas would rise $3.64 a month.

WPS said electric rates have been relatively flat and the natural gas rate would be about $3.89 per month less than in 2008. ...
