Candidates for Wisconsin Rapids School Board say a reduction in the number of district employees likely will be a necessary evil when it comes to balancing a projected $3.7 million shortfall for 2013-14.

On Tuesday, district residents will choose from a field of three candidates, two of whom will serve on the board. Incumbents Anne Lee and Mary Rayome face challenger Jim Scott. Daily Tribune Media recently talked with the candidates about the issues they would most focus on if elected.
