LETTER: Paramedics saved husband's life

On Marh 13, the Fond du Lac paramedics saved my husband's life.

My husband choked on a piece of meat while eating at a local restaurant. The Heimlich manuever failed and CPR was started immediately while 911 was called.

Paramedics responded within minutes. My husband, Terry, had no pulse and was not breathing. The paramedics applied a defibrillator and shocked him back to life. He was then transported to St. Agnes Hospital where he spent a week in the intensive care unit.

Terry is now in rehab and is on his way to a full recovery.

We were both so impressed by the local emergency medical personnel. They went to work in a quick and efficient manner. Each team member had a job and knew exactly what to do.

Without their superior care and professionalism, the outcome would have been quite different.

We are fortunate to have such capable public servants here in Fond du Lac.

The medical teams in the intensive care unit are also to be commended for their care and sensitivity during this ordeal.

Thank you to the ICU and to the great paramedics for being "the best."
