Another hotel giant is taking a step toward making Wi-Fi free to more guests, including people who have never once slept in its beds.

IHG, parent company of Crowne Plaza, InterContinental and Holiday Inn hotels, is giving free Internet access to all members of its newly named loyalty program, regardless of whether a guest is checking into a penthouse suite or stopping in the lobby for a cappuccino.

IHG's top customers - elite-level loyalty members of its new IHG Rewards Club - get the perk beginning in July, followed by other members in 2014. ...
