Portion of Pulaski referendum gets yes

As a previous vocal opponent of the Pulaski school referendum, I now will be voting 'yes' to most of the referendum questions.

I have two daughters attending Pulaski schools. After the 'no' vote in November, the board did what was asked of them. Pencils were sharpened, needs vs. wants were separated and addressed, and a better plan was created. I commend the board and administration for their efforts in effectively studying, changing and communicating the referendum to residents. The board and Dr. Lightner have done what is increasingly rare in government these days, they listened!

However, I am voting 'no' for changes to the pool. I maintain that insufficient discussion has taken place regarding a public/private partnership (for example, the YMCA) to enhance or replace this facility. The pool is dated and updates need to be done. But, I don't believe taxpayers need foot the bill for 100 percent of this facility. Public/private partnerships are a bit outside of the box, but it's been done before, and needs to be explored here.

A yes vote for the first three questions benefits education in Pulaski directly. The pool benefits some, but there are additional options that should be explored.
