Our Village Board would like us to believe Bellevue has the lowest taxes in the county. Apply your monthly water bill to your year-end taxes on your property and you will find a different analysis.
Then there is an impact for building a new home or business which amounts to thousands of dollars. Our village and utility debt is in excess of $23 million and growing. From 1989 to 2012 our assessed valuation increased over $ 1 billion. This still leaves us with a debt ration of $1,627 for each person living in Bellevue. Sounds like Washington, D.C., politics, only on a smaller scale.
We must start to put our needs in front of our wants, and not let this debt become a burden for the next generation. This can be done by throwing out the wild spenders and elect trustees who will be more responsible with our tax dollars. Vote for Adam Gauthier and Dave Kaster.
