Denny Helke came to be president of the Wausau Wheelers almost by accident.

Helke was on the organization's board of directors last year, and when the president announced he was stepping down, Helke said he warned the board that if they didn't find someone to continue the work, the organization likely would disband. And so the board elected him president.
