Doug Melvin has worked with some aggressive baseball owners during his career.

The Milwaukee Brewers general manager was with the late George Steinbrenner while with the New York Yankees as a scouting director. He was an assistant general manager under Peter Angelos with the Baltimore Orioles and the general manager for Tom Hicks with the Texas Rangers.
