Pliska completes basic military training
Air Force Airman Lisa Pliska has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Pliska, a 2009 graduate of Stevens Point Area Senior High, is the daughter of Sue Pliska of Stevens Point and David Pliska of Junction City.
Stremkowski completes Marine combat course
Marine Corps Pvt. Jacob Stremkowski recently graduated from the Marine Corps Basic Combat Engineer Course at Marine Corps Engineer School, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
During the five-week course, Stremkowski received instruction in the fundamentals of engineering support for combat units, including the procedures for building and repairing bridges, roads and field fortifications. Stremkowski also received training on demolition concepts, land mine warfare and camouflage techniques.
Stremkowski, a 2012 graduate of Stevens Point Area Senior High, is the son of Shelly and Michael Stremkowski of Custer. He joined the Marine Corps in July 2012.
Bennett completes U.S. Navy basic training
Navy Seaman Recruit Judith Bennett recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
During the eight-week program, Bennett completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis also was placed on physical fitness.
Bennett, a 2012 graduate of Mosinee High School, is the daughter of Joanne and Steven Bennett of Mosinee.
