Restaurants have good intentions. Sometimes they get it right. Sometimes they donít.

When it comes to allergies, however, not being strict enough or careful enough can land someone in an emergency room.

An Appleton mom sent a letter to The Post-Crescent recently talking about the nerve wracking challenges of dealing with a child with a severe dairy allergy. Eating out is almost impossible.

The same difficulty factor comes into play for peanut allergies.

The Appleton mom said some restaurants are careful and safe, like Red Robin, CherryBerry and Far East.

Others werenít able to accommodate requests or simply didnít get it, she said.

Iím compiling a list of restaurants that are accommodating to those with allergies, including dairy, peanut and gluten. I intend to wrap up the list Thursday morning and run it in print and online Friday.

If you have a severe allergy triggered by food, are you able to eat out?

If so, please email me the names of restaurants youíd recommend in the Fox Cities for others with your particular allergies.
