Marathon County officials insist that jail staffing levels and communications system failures were not a factor in the brutal assault that left one corrections officer fighting for her life.

But in a major policy shift, Chief Deputy Scott Parks announced at a press conference held Tuesday morning that officers began carrying Tasers this morning, after Parks reviewed policies from several other county jails within the state.
