Voter turnout in Pulaski Tuesday topped statewide estimates as residents weighed in on a divisive school referendum, while Brown County fell below the expected numbers.

About 970 people cast ballots in Pulaski, according to a village officials. That is 51 percent of the village's roughly 1,900 registered voters, and 38 percent of the village's estimated 2,500 eligible voters.

The Government Accountability Board estimated a 20-percent voter turnout statewide. With nearly 97 percent of precincts counted, 30,953 ballots were cast in Brown County, or 16.4 percent of the county's ...
