A posting on the Hansen's Dairy & Deli Facebook page explained to customers why the store, at 620 Gray St. on Green Bay's northwest side, is closed.

The explanation was signed by "John." John Van Lanen is the store owner. He could not be reached for comment Monday.

The note said the store closed because it was not able to pay its utility bill. The note said it had been unable to find financing to reopen "but there may be some light at the end of the tunnel. I will update the page as soon as I have information."

Hansen's closed late in March. Van Lanen closed a second store in De Pere in December 2012. Van Lanen acquired the Hansen's name and reopened the longtime Green Bay institution in 2010 after a previous owner filed for bankruptcy. He relaunched by opening the Gray Street restaurant and added the De Pere store on Broadway in early 2011.
