Affinity Health System merges with larger nationwide system

Mercy Medical Center and other Affinity Health System facilities in the Oshkosh area are now part of the largest Catholic, nonprofit health organization in the county, a move that leaders hope will result in the ability to provide greater level of care.

The merger of Ministry Health, Affinity's parent organization, with Ascension Health took effect Monday. Ascension Health is the largest Catholic and nonprofit health system in the country. It employs more than 150,000 people and operates 118 hospitals and more than 1,500 other facilities in 23 states and Washington D.C.
