Voters rejected the $33.8 million Sheboygan Falls building referendum Tuesday with 897 voters casting a "no" vote to 617 "yes" votes.

The $33.8 million referendum would have paid for construction of a new $24.4 million middle school and a $4 million early learning addition, along with security upgrades and land purchase, according to district reports.

It's the second defeat for a new middle school. The district tried, unsuccessfully, in 2006 to pass a $21.5 referendum to build the new middle school. ...
