An 18-year-old Marshfield man accused of using fish hooks to pierce a neighborhood cat's ears will serve two years of probation and undergo counseling for his crimes.

Devin P. Hookstadt, who was a foster child in Remington at the time of the incident, also will write a letter of apology to his former foster parents as part of his sentence on a misdemeanor charge of animal abuse.

Wood County Circuit Judge Nicholas Brazeau Jr. also ordered Hookstad to pay an additional $253 plus $500 restitution in an unrelated criminal damage to property case in which the suspect was accused of urinating on ...
