We all know that obesity among children is a growing issue in our country and even locally.

According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, obesity can have dire consequences for children, including: high blood pressure; increased risk of developing diabetes; breathing problems such as sleep apnea and asthma; joint problems; and a greater risk of social and psychological problems such as poor self-esteem.

It's nice to know that there are local organizations - and volunteers - that are making a difference when it comes to child fitness and health, right here in our community. ...
