Get ready to clean out those cluttered closets and basements - it is time for the third annual City Wide Garage Sale in Sturgeon Bay. This year's event will take place on May 31 and June 1. Participants will have their choice of hosting their garage sale on just one of the days or both days.

To participate, city residents can stop by the city clerk's office at City Hall, 421 Michigan St., between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to pick up a registration form. List the address, items that will be at the sale and the times it will be "open for business." The rest will be taken care of by the city.

Forms are also available online at www.sturgeonbaywi.org. Upon registration, an $8 fee is due to help cover the cost of advertising. No registrations will be taken by phone or email, and the fee must be submitted with the registration form to be placed on the list.

People who are registered will receive a sign to place on their property for the day of the sale. The city will publish a list of locations that are participating in the City Wide Garage Sale and will place each location on a map to make the garage sale easy to find.

This information will be available at various locations throughout the city as well as on the city's website, cable access channels and the Door County Advocate on May 29.

The deadline to sign up to participate in the citywide garage sale is May 1. Call the department at (920) 746-2914 or email jlenius@sturgeonbaywi.org if any questions.
