A downtown Green Bay bridge that underwent $600,000 in repairs last year malfunctioned Wednesday, causing traffic detours for several hours.

The Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge on Main Street broke down about 11 a.m. and remained out of service throughout the afternoon.
