Prevea Clinic has agreed to pay $94,000 for allegedly submitting false claims to Medicare.

The U.S. attorney's office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin said Tuesday it reached a civil settlement with Prevea over the charges. The allegations were made under whistleblower provisions of the False Claims Act. Whistleblowers receive a share of the settlement.

The complaint alleged that Prevea submitted false claims to Medicare for the services of an assistant surgeon during neurosurgery procedures between Jan. 1, 2005, and Nov. 20, 2010. It alleged Prevea submitted claims for ...
