Challengers beat incumbents for MPSD board seats

Both incumbents on the Manitowoc Board of Education were ousted in Tuesday's general election, according to unofficial results from the district office. Six candidates were vying for three three-year terms on the board.

With 99 percent of the votes reported at press time, Keith Shaw had the lead at 5,516 followed by David Nickels with 5,348 votes and David Longmeyer with 3,323.

Incumbent Chrystal Myer came in fourth with 3,022 votes, losing her seat on the board. Behind her were challenger Peter Rotter, who captured 2,959 votes, and incumbent James Protsman with 2,692. ...
