Fitzgerald tops 8 other in write-in race

Oshkosh magazine publisher Sean Fitzgerald emerged from a crowded field of write-in candidates to win an Oshkosh Common Council seat in Tuesday's election.

Fitzgerald garnered 463 write-in votes to top the list of nine write-in candidates and win a two-year term on the council. The seat opened up after Councilor Bob Poeschl opted not to seek a third term. The seat was open to a write-in candidate after no one submitted enough nominating signatures to get their name on the ballot.
