Vandersteen says he's ready to tackle mayor's job

It's been less than a day since challenger Mike Vandersteen was elected mayor and he's already got a lengthy to-do list ready to go.

Vandersteen, 60, outpolled incumbent Terry Van Akkeren by 197 ballots in Tuesday's election, capturing just over 51 percent of the vote.

"I'm feeling really good," Vandersteen said Wednesday morning. "We had good team working on the campaign. All the effort everybody put in paid off and we got the result we had hoped for." ...
