Letter: Thankful for patience of DMV worker

9:11 PM, Apr. 2, 2013  |  Comments

I have heard my share of negative comments about people's experiences with the DMV. I would like to share a positive one. I walked into the DMV recently to take care of an issue that I already knew was going to take some time. I was helped by a woman who I remembered from this past summer when she helped me with a different problem.

As it turned out, my issue was more complicated than either of us could have imagined. The entire process took over two hours and several phone calls, along with some computer issues. Through it all, she remained calm. She even managed to help a few other customers in between working with me. In the end she had taken care of as much as she could and gave me specific instructions on how to finish the process myself.

As she handed me back my paperwork, she actually apologized to me for the amount of time it had taken. She has absolutely nothing to be apologetic for. It is I who could never be apologetic or grateful enough for all her help, both this time and the last time I was there.
