On snowshoeing at Eau Pleine Park (west of Mosinee)

There are no trails, but many people enjoy breaking their own snowshoe trails or using the trails already in place for mountain bikers.

“Eau Pleine Park, aka Big E. I have been an enthusiast of Big E since we moved up here from Madison, in 1993. The loops outside my back door go up the south face of Mosinee Hill. I blaze my own trail, especially to the hardwoods loops. You can always get out of the wind if there is a stiff westerly, or bask in the sun on the western side of the peninsula if it is nicer.

Why I like it? Lots of deer to see, lovely loop in the giant hardwoods, pristine and serene hemlock glades and easily accessible by vehicle. You can do a quick loop or spend a half-day and build a fire in /near one of the shelters.”
