The Brown County United Way has allocated $2 million to more than 40 local health and human services programs.

The appropriations are on top of other funding streams from United Way, which include $664,881 allocated to agencies that donors specifically request.

The $2 million allocations were based on recommendations made by four United Way councils made up of more than 80 volunteers. The volunteers spent hundreds of hours listening to presentations and inspecting community data to formulate their final recommendations, United Way officials said.
