Newman Catholic Schools will celebrate Founders Day on May 4. The event will begin with Mass at 4 p.m. at St. Michael Church, 611 Stark St., followed by a social, dinner and awards presentation at The Jefferson Street Inn, 201 Jefferson Street, Wausau.

Newman Catholic Schools' Founders Day observance is a time of recognition of its namesake, Blessed John Henry Newman and a time to honor individuals for their work to promote Catholic education and the ideals of Newman.

The Cornerstone Award, presented to those whose influence and support has greatly contributed to the success and growth of Newman Catholic Schools, will be presented to Kevin E. Wolf of Wausau and Leon and Alma Burger (posthumous). Athletic Hall of Fame inductees include Dana Schultz, Milwaukee, class of 2003 and Dr. Kevin Gassner, Sheboygan, class of 1972. Volunteer of the Year awards will be presented to Sue Grunow, Phil and Lori Menzner and Mike and Julie Vesel.

Thirteen NCS educators also will be recognized for their twenty-five plus years of service.

For further information or to make reservations people may call the NCS Development Office at 715-842-4805. Cost is $30 per person.
