Boys to go 'Scouting for Food'

The Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts in Merrill soon will be doing their part for the annual Samoset Council "Scouting For Food" drive.

The boys will attach a plastic bag to the front door of local homes on Saturday, April 13, for nonperishable food items. Residents are asked to put donated items in the bag and put the bag outside their doors by 9 a.m. Saturday, April 20, for the boys to pick up.

All items collected in Merrill will be given to the Merrill Community Food Pantry to help needy families in the area.

Last year the boys in Merrill collected nearly 4,000 items of food. Their goal this year is to collect 5,000 items to reflect the pantry's constant need.
