Next week our Waupun Public Library will be celebrating National Library Week by hosting four different types of entertaining programs. Starting the week out on Monday, April 15 at 6:30 p.m., author and performer Bill Jamerson will present "Dollar-A-Day Boys", a program of songs and stories of the Civilian Conservation Corps. On Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Chad Lewis who is an author and paranormal researcher, will visit and speak on Wisconsin's Gangster Past. Chad will have us walking in the footsteps of America's most infamous gangsters as they turned Wisconsin into their own criminal vacation land.
Friday, April 19, at 6:30 p.m. Wisconsin author Jerry Apps will present a program called "Stories from the Land". This program draws on several of the books written by Mr. Apps. His books will also be available for purchase at the event. The last show of the week is on Saturday, April 20th, and will bring back a popular affair with antique appraiser, Mark Moran. Mark is a former senior editor of Antiques and Collectibles books published by Krause Publications, and he has also been a guest expert on the Antiques Roadshow TV program. Mark will be at the Library to appraise items between 9 am and Noon, and again from 1 pm until 4 pm. Anyone who wishes to have an item appraised must register in advance for a time slot by calling the library at 324-7925. There are limitations on what items will be appraised. Individuals who just want to watch the appraisals need not register.
All programs are free to the public and refreshments will be served. These programs are sponsored by the Waupun Public Library and the Friends of Waupun Library. As we celebrate National Library week I would like to thank Library Director Bret Jaeger and Co-Director, Pam Garcia along with all of our library support staff for the wonderful job they all do to make our time at the library educational, informative and fun.
Remember this is Bulk Item pick-up week. The day of your normal garbage pickup is when you should put out your bulky waste items such as furniture, mattresses, countertops, etc. For more information you can call Advanced Disposal Services at 1-800-387-0949.
Until next week?..
