Officials to discuss development; one council member unhappy about meeting in private

The Stevens Point City Council will meet in private Monday to be in a better position to negotiate with property owners and potential tenants, Mayor Andrew Halverson said.

The council and other officials will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday in closed session before the city's regular slate of commission and committee meetings begin at 6 p.m.. In private, officials will discuss how the city will negotiate the sale or lease of the Mid-State Technical College building on Michigan Avenue, City Hall, Portage County Library and the Lincoln Center on Water Street.
